Conjecture

Within the framework of its offsite programme, La Station chose to present at In extenso two of its current artists-in-residence, Vivien Roubaud and Tatiana Wolska. They will produce a new site-specific work.

Vivien Roubaud and Tatiana Wolska decided to create, more than an artwork, a “conjecture“. As a hypothesis expressed about the accuracy or the inaccuracy of a proposal awaiting to be verified by the experience, the shape of this artwork will remain uncertain.

Assuming that their practices could resonate together, the artists will try to confront their processes and their aesthetics in order to create a new entity, born from the fragmented hybridation of several already-existing works. As a kind of laboratory, Conjecture is the consequency of a series of attempts, tests and trials. From the starting hypothesis about the way things function, will result a shape that the artists are going to develop.

The artists’s studios being adjoining, they progressively set up a process in which their skills are used for each other’s practice. Thus, Conjecture will exist as a result of this dialogue and not as a definitive form: in a different context, its exploration could be different.
